Much has been talked in the papers not long ago concerning the bingo industry singing the blues as a result of the anti cigarette law in England. Conditions have grown so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has called for massive tax breaks to help keep the industry alive. But will the online version of this traditional game present a reprieve, or will it never compare to its real life equivalent?

Bingo is an age old game usually played by the "blue rinse" generation. Although the game recently had undergone a recent increase in popularity with younger people opting to go to the bingo halls instead of the discos on a Saturday night. This is all about to get flipped on its head with the legislating of the smoking ban all over United Kingdom.

Players will no longer be permitted to puff on cigarettes whilst marking numbers. Starting in the summer of 2007 every public location will no longer be allowed to permit cigarettes in their buildings and this includes Bingo halls, which are possibly the most common places where folks like to puff on cigarettes.

The outcome of the smoking ban can already be observed in Scotland where smoking is already forbidden in the bingo parlours. Profits have plummeted and the business is absolutely struggling for its life. But where have all the players gone? Certainly they have not deserted this age old game?

The answer is on the web. People know that they can enjoy bingo from their computer at the same time enjoying a beer and cig and still enjoy monstrous prizes. This is a recent phenomenon and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.
