An abundance has been reported in the papers recently concerning the bingo industry singing the blues because of the anti smoking law in Britain. Things have grown so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested huge tax cuts to help keep the businesses from going bankrupt. However will the internet version of this quintessential game offer a escape, or will it in no way compare to its land based kin?

Bingo is an ancient game generally played by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game lately had undergone a recent return in acceptance with younger men and women deciding to visit the bingo parlours rather than the bars on a Saturday night. This is all about to be reversed with the introduction of the cigarette ban across England and Wales.

Players will no longer be able to smoke at the same time marking numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 all public locations will no longer be allowed to permit smoking in their venues and this includes Bingo parlours, one of the most popular locations where players enjoy smoking.

The results of the anti smoking law can already be looked at in Scotland where smoking is already banned in the bingo parlours. Profits have dropped and the industry is literally struggling for its life. But where did all the players go? Surely they have not given up on this ancient game?
