A lot has been reported in the press not long ago regarding the bingo industry singing the blues because of the anti smoking law in Britain. Conditions have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for huge aid to assist in keeping the industry afloat. But does the internet adaptation of this classic game present a reprieve, or might it never compare to its land based opposite?

Bingo is an enduring game historically enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. However the game of late had undergone a recent increase in popularity with younger people opting to hit the bingo parlors instead of the clubs on a weekend. This is all about to get flipped on its head with the introduction of the anti smoking law across England and Wales.

No more will enthusiasts be allowed to smoke while dabbing numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 every public place will no longer be permitted to allow smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo halls, one of the most favored locations where folks enjoy smoking.

The results of the smoking ban can already be observed in Scotland where smoking is already barred in the bingo parlors. Players have plunged and the business is absolutely fighting for to stay alive. But where did all the players go? Certainly they have not abandoned this classic game?

The answer is on the internet. Players realize that they can gamble on bingo using their computer while enjoying a beverage and cigarette and in the end, enjoy monstrous jackpots. This is a recent phenomenon and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.
