Will the Anti Smoking Law in England Force Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Internet?

An abundance has been written in the papers recently about the bingo industry being hurt because of the anti smoking law in Britain. Conditions have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for huge aid to help keep the businesses afloat. But does the net variation of this quintessential game offer a reprieve, or will it in no way compare to its real life kin?
Bingo has been an age old game historically enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. For all that the game recently had experienced a recent comeback in popularity with younger men and women deciding to visit the bingo halls rather than the bars on a Saturday night. This is all about to change with the enacting of the cigarette ban all over England and Wales.
Players will no longer be able to puff on cigarettes whilst marking numbers. Starting in the summer of 2007 every public location will not be permitted to allow cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo parlours, one of the most common areas where folks like to puff on cigarettes.
The outcome of the anti smoking law can already be observed in Scotland where cigarettes are already illegal in the bingo parlors. Profits have dropped and the business is literally struggling for to stay alive. But where did the players go? Obviously they haven’t abandoned this enduring game?
The answer is on the web. Gamblers know that they can participate in bingo using their computer whilst enjoying a drink and cigarette and still have a chance at massive jackpots. This is a recent anomaly and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.
Of course betting on on the web could never replace the collective aspect of heading down to the bingo parlor, but for a demographic of players the governing edicts have left a lot of bingo enthusiasts with no alternative.
