Will the Anti Smoking Law in Britain Take Bingo Enthusiasts Online?

A lot has been reported in the papers just a while ago about the bingo industry being hurt because of the anti smoking law in Britain. Conditions have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for massive tax cuts to assist in keeping the businesses afloat. But does the online version of this classic game offer a lifeline, or might it in no way compare to its land based relative?
Bingo has been an enduring game historically played by the "blue rinse" generation. In any case the game of late had seen a recent resurgence in popularity with younger members of society deciding to hit the bingo halls in place of the clubs on a Friday night. This is all about to change with the enforcement of the anti smoking law across Britain.
Players will no longer be allowed to smoke whilst marking numbers. Starting in the summer of ‘07 all public locations will no longer be permitted to allow smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most popular locations where folks like to puff on cigarettes.
The results of the anti smoking law can already be seen in Scotland where cigarettes are already forbidden in the bingo halls. Numbers have plummeted and the industry is beyond a doubt fighting for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Obviously they have not cast aside this ancient game?
The answer is online. Gamblers realize that they can wager on bingo in front of their computer whilst enjoying a drink and smoke and in the end, have a chance at huge jackpots. This is a recent anomaly and has happened just about perfectly with the ban on cigarettes.
Of course playing on the net could never replace the social part of heading down to the bingo parlor, but for a demographic of players the governing edicts have left a number of bingo enthusiasts with little option.
