Could the Smoking Ban in the UK Force Bingo Players Online?

An abundance has been stated in the press not long ago about the bingo industry singing the blues as a result of the anti smoking law in Britain. Things have become so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested big aid to help keep the businesses alive. But does the net adaptation of this traditional game provide a salvation, or will it not compare to its bricks and mortar equivalent?
Bingo is an familiar game generally played by the "blue haired" generation. However the game lately had seen a recent return in appeal with younger members of society deciding to visit the bingo parlours instead of the bars on a weekend. All this is about to get flipped on its head with the introduction of the anti cigarette law around England and Wales.
No longer will enthusiasts be able to smoke at the same time marking off their numbers. Starting in the summer of 2007 every public area will not be permitted to allow smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo halls, which are possibly the most common areas where players like to puff on cigarettes.
The results of the cigarette ban can already be observed in Scotland where cigarettes are already prohibited in the bingo parlors. Profits have dropped and the business is absolutely fighting for its life. But where did the players go? Obviously they have not deserted this classic game?
The answer is online. Players realise that they can gamble on bingo in front of their computer whilst enjoying a beverage and cigarette and still enjoy monstrous jackpots. This is a recent anomaly and has happened just about perfectly with the ban on smoking.
Of course wagering on on the internet can never replace the collective portion of going down to the bingo parlour, but for a demographic of players the rules have left a number of bingo players with little option.
