Will the Anti Smoking Law in Britain Force Bingo Players Online?

Much has been reported in the press not long ago regarding the bingo industry singing the blues because of the anti smoking law in the United Kingdom. Conditions have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for massive aid to assist in keeping the industry from going bankrupt. However does the net version of this traditional game provide a escape, or might it not compare to its bricks and mortar opposite?
Bingo is an enduring game generally enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. However the game recently had undergone a recent return in popularity with younger men and women opting to hit the bingo halls instead of the clubs on a Friday night. All this is about to get flipped on its head with the legislating of the cigarette ban all over United Kingdom.
Players will no longer be able to smoke at the same time marking numbers. Starting in the summer of 2007 all public places will not be permitted to allow smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most common areas where people enjoy smoking.
The results of the smoking ban can already be looked at in Scotland where smoking is already barred in the bingo parlors. Numbers have plummeted and the industry is literally struggling for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Surely they haven’t cast aside this ancient game?
The answer is on the internet. People realize that they can bet on bingo from their computer at the same time enjoying a beer and cig and in the end, enjoy huge prizes. This is a recent phenomenon and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.
Of course wagering on online is unlikely to replace the communal aspect of heading down to the bingo parlour, but for a group of players the law has left a number of bingo enthusiasts with little choice.
