Might the Anti Cigarette Law in Britain Force Bingo Players On to the Net?

Much has been written in the press not long ago concerning the bingo industry struggling as a result of the anti cigarette law in England. Conditions have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for huge tax cuts to assist in keeping the industry alive. But does the net variation of this classic game offer a escape, or might it not compare to its bricks and mortar kin?
Bingo has been an enduring game historically enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. Although the game recently had seen a recent comeback in appeal with younger people opting to go to the bingo halls instead of the clubs on a weekend. This is all about to get flipped on its head with the enacting of the anti smoking law all over UK.
No more will gamblers be allowed to smoke while marking numbers. Beginning in the summer of ‘07 every public area will no longer be permitted to allow smoking in their venues and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most favorite places where many people enjoy smoking.
The results of the smoking ban can already be seen in Scotland where smoking is already forbidden in the bingo parlors. Players have dropped and the business is literally struggling for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Surely they have not forgotten this age old game?
The answer is on the web. Players know that they can enjoy bingo in front of their computer while enjoying a drink and fag and in the end, have a chance at huge cash rewards. This is a recent development and has timed itself just about perfectly with the anti smoking law.
Of course wagering on online will never replace the social part of going down to the bingo parlor, but for a group of players the governing edicts have left a number of bingo enthusiasts with no choice.
